Cypress mulch also deters insects and reptiles because the mulch has sharp edges that cut into their bodies.

Shredded cypress mulch is an attractive soil cover and looks much more beautiful than non-organic mulches like shredded newspaper. Cypress mulch also has a fresh and pleasant smell while it is decomposing. It eventually weathers into a soft grey colour. While other mulches tend to wash away or blow away over time, cypress mulch stays in place.
